On Wednesday, December 18 in McKale Center, we welcomed Men's Basketball Letterwinner T.J. McConnell (2012-2015) into the Ring of Honor. After transferring to Arizona, he became a key player for the Wildcats, known for his exceptional defense, playmaking, and leadership. During his two seasons at Arizona (2013-2015), McConnell helped guide the team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Elite Eights.

Mike Bibby (1996-1998) pulled up to the Footprint Center to see our Men's Basketball team play UCLA on December 18th.

Bennedict Mathurin (2020-2022) showed his support for his teammate and fellow Ring of Honor member, T.J. McConnell as he got recognized on December 18.
|
|
|
|
|
Carl was not only a football stand out, but he also started and coached the Arizona Lacrosse team until 1968 during his time as coach he put Arizona Lacrosse on the map. He was also recently inducted into Maryland’s Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
|
|
Hal originally started his collegiate career as a Track scholarship recipient at USC, but transferred to Arizona where he could participate in both Track and Football. He later became a pharmacist, even having won Pharmacist of the Year during his career.

|
Willie was one of the first 4 Black athletes in Arizona Football history and was also the UA’s first Black Assistant Football Coach.

|
Kirt was Rolling Hills Male Athlete of the Year in 1991, All-CIF, Team USA Baseball 18U Pitcher, pitcher for our Wildcats, had a 7 year professional baseball career, and a 15 year acting career in Asia.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNTIES:
McLendon Postgrad Scholarship - The McLendon Foundation offers 11 postgraduate scholarships to minority candidates currently pursuing / planning to pursue a master’s degree in a field that will help them pursue a career in the sports industry. There is one scholarship earmarked for a candidate from an Arizona based 4 year institution! Applications are due 2/1. Please see information regarding the scholarship, criteria, and application HERE.
NCAA Scholarships
Jim McKay Graduate Scholarship – for grad school students that demonstrate achievement in sport communication, public relations or show an interest in contributing to the field. Deadline is 1/10.
Postgrad Scholarship – for any former student-athlete pursing graduate school. Must have demonstrated excellence in their sport, leadership, and academics. Deadline depends on sport season.

After receiving AP, CBS/247Sports and AFCA First-Team All-American, Walter Camp, FWAA Second-Team All-American, and Polynesian College Football Player of the Year, Tetairoa McMillan has entered the 2025 NFL Draft alongside his teammate Offensive Lineman, Jonah Savaiinaea.

Your VolleyCats are officially NIVC Champions! They started their season 11-0 and they ended it 11-0. Congratulations to the team and Head Coach Rita Stubbs!
Alayna Johnson has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree; this is her 3rd accolade from this organization.

SWIM & DIVE
Out SwimCats completed their first Big 12 meet against BYU here at home, first meet of the new year at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Jan 10 vs. Harvard. Diver Brooke Earley competed in the 3m USA Diving competition and finished in the Top 15.

TRACK AND FIELD
Our TrackCats begin their indoor season in Flagstaff on Jan 10 against NAU. Their outdoor season begins March 8 here at home. Check out their schedule here.
